Who we are
Just Americans is a nonpartisan initiative dedicated to strengthening democracy in the United States by advancing the dignity, rights, and civic participation of LGBTQ communities. We believe that LGBTQ people have always been at the forefront of movements for justice and democracy, and that their leadership is essential to building a pluralistic and vibrant civic culture. Our work centers LGBTQ Americans while also fostering collaboration across movements and communities, advancing a vision of pluralism that uplifts every community.
-
We envision an America where LGBTQ people—and people of all backgrounds, beliefs,
and convictions—are empowered to engage in civic life with courage and compassion, where:LGBTQ equality, liberty, and freedom are recognized as cornerstones of democratic strength;
Pluralism is not just tolerated but actively embraced as a public good;
Civic discourse is grounded in mutual respect, shared purpose, and the dignity of LGBTQ lives; and
Research, narrative, and leadership development come together to expand democracy’s promise to all people.
-
